Best Price Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical IF Macro Zoom Lens Reviews

With the advent of the latest 15X zoom lens from Tamron, the pioneer of high power zoom lenses, the high power zoom lens has steadily evolved from a 7.1X to a 10.7X to a 13.9X and now to the world's largest zoom ratio of 15X by combining advanced high power zoom design technologies accumulated by Tamron since 1992. The lens covers an angle of view equivalent to that of a 28mm wideangle to a 419mm ultra telephoto with just one lens, letting the user capture once-in-the-lifetime images of panoramic landscape images or close-up pictures of children smiling, without having to get too close to the subject and without having to change lenses.

I have been doing photography for over 43 years on an amature basis. It was not my passion to become professional. I have a shake in my hands and arms...so to get a good photo I would have to take 5-10 for one good one, too often losing the moment. With this new lens I am able to take one good photo. It is amazing. I have been able to take photos of birds in flight.

After doing a lot of research work on various types of zoom lens, I decided to go with the Tamron AF 18-270MM VC lens. I am planning a trip to Alaska and was looking for a good lens with sufficient zoom capability to get me close to the various animal life I will encounter during the cruise/tour. I have a Tamron 28-300MM zoom w/o stabilization which is a great lens but you need a tripod to steady the lens at extreme zoom or shoot at a very high speed and low ISO which is not always possible. After receiving the 18-270mm lens I gave it a try, what a great lens. The image stabilization is like a dream come true for me. I use the lens on a Canon Rebel XTI. I took numerous pictures of the neighborhood, flowers in the garden and birds flying in and around the area with and without the stabilization on. The stabilization worked like a champ. All the pictures with it on were clean, crisp, clear, and had vibrant colors. Granted the camera settings help make the colors more vibrant, but the lens delivered as promised. I did notice slight barrel tightening around the mid zoom range but when I had the camera in the field, I did not notice that at all. It is a bit slow in focusing inside the house when shooting at something without clear features to help in the auto focus but still tolerable. Outside, the auto focus was fast and right on. I could shot at ISO 100 at 1/50th second on birds in a tree and get a sharp picture at 270mm zoom using center focus on the camera. At 18mm you get a very good wide field shot and unless you are shooting something with obvious sharp horizontal lines, you do not notice any barrel distortion. I am very pleased with this lens and recommend it.
